...."To overcome the shortcoming, we propose a comprehensive progressive decoding scheme by applying the Taylor approximation of cosine function in this paper. The algorithm analysis and experiments show that, in comparison with the existing transform progressive coding mode developed by JPEG, the proposed scheme achieves significant savings on the computation cost and the competitive image quality....."
